Out at the Northeast corner of Viera East is the family friendly community of Auburn Lakes. With 249 home sites Auburn Lakes is a non-gated neighborhood of single family homes built by well known homebuilder Holiday Builders. Standard lots in Auburn Lakes tend to be around 50' by 120' in size while some on cul-de-sacs are a bit larger. The neighborhood was developed from 2002 through 2004 and blends beautifully around 4 small lakes, 4 large lakes and acres of natural preserve land. In fact the community is surrounded almost 360 degrees by natural preserve land with over 95% of the homes enjoying spectacular water views or the privacy and peacefulness of the natural surroundings.
These well built, energy efficient, concrete block homes include storm shutters, alarm systems and in-ground irrigation systems on reclaimed water. Homes range in size from about 1,300 square feet to just over 1,900 square feet with 3 and 4 bedroom options. All homes are single story with a 2 car garage. Since the homes were built in the early 2000’s many of the original mechanical systems such as HVAC and hot water heaters, with around a 10 or 12 year life span, have recently been replaced in the community. Additionally, many homes have been upgraded and include tile or wood floors, decorative cabinetry and solid surface countertops.
When you enter the community you quickly get a feel for how nice it is. The community common area comes up on your right and on any given day you’ll find Auburn Lakes' residents enjoying the private community pool complete with covered patio, restrooms and lounge chairs. Next to the community pool is the commercial grade play set and covered pavilion. Look at the view to the South! One of Auburn Lakes' largest lakes. Imagine relaxing on one of the park benches looking out over the lake while the kids play on the play ground before jumping in the pool to cool off. Now that’s the way to do it!
Something else you might notice at the community pool area is the high flying American flag. That flag hasn’t always been there. It was something the community came together for and added in 2013. Patriotism is alive and well in Auburn Lakes!
And speaking of Patriotism wait till you see what happens in Auburn Lakes on Independence Day. It’s time for the annual 4th of July neighborhood parade. With flags-a-fly’n, the young and “young at heart” all get together and parade through the neighborhood proudly wearing their red, white and blue. Some on skates, some on bikes and some just walking, everyone ends at the community pavilion where a 4th of July cookout begins. Come on out and meet your fellow Auburn Lakes neighbors!
And that’s not all that goes on in the neighborhood. Historically there’s been a Fall Festival with Pin The Nose On The Pumpkin, Bean Bag Toss, and Hula hoop contest. Pot Luck at the Pavilion is not uncommon as neighbors meet up to get to know each other and share their culinary skills. And at Christmas time Santa and Mrs. Claus come to town at Auburn Lakes for a special event for the kids or grand kids. Bring your camera’s…it’s a photo opportunity you won’t want to miss!
Auburn Lakes also has a website and active Facebook page with tons of helpful information. Everything from updates about the community wide garage sale to reclaimed water schedules. There’s lost and found information, updates from the community beautification committee and even a list of preferred contractors. In fact the list of contractors includes the original Holiday Builders sub contractors. Need to know how to install your storm shutters or where your missing sprinkler head could be buried? Auburn Lakes has got you covered!
For nature lovers, Auburn Lakes is extraordinary! The northern most point of the Viera Nature Trail begins in Auburn Lakes and runs south down to nearby community Herons’ Landing where it continues on to Suseda Park. The Viera Nature Trail winds its way through a natural palmetto prairie. The trail is paved and provides great opportunities to spot white-tailed deer, bobcats, Florida scrub jays and gopher tortoises.
