Forest Lake Village

Near the north end of Suntree is the small, but popular, community of Forest Lake Village. 

Developed from about 1998 through 2000, Forest Lake Village is a non-gated neighborhood with 87 single family homes crafted by well known homebuilders such as Lennar Homes and Burgoon Berger. Lots in Forest Lake Village are typically about 80' wide by 125' deep.  The neighborhood was developed around extensive natural preserve areas and 2 small lakes.  Over three fourths of  the homes in Forest Lake Village have private pools while almost all have spectacular views of a sparkling pond or a peaceful natural preserve area.  These well built, concrete block homes can be found with shingle or tile roofs, and typically feature upgraded appliances, tile floors, custom cabinetry, and extensive landscaping. Homes range in size from 1,800 square feet to over 3,000 square feet with one story and two story options.

Forest Lake Village is an active community and pride of ownership shows.  Homes are well maintained with extensive landscaping and attractive design.  American flags fly proudly at both of Forest Lake Village’s entrances and are even illuminated at night.  The homeowner’s association maintains a website with helpful information about Forest Lake Village including HOA meeting minutes, Forest Lake Village Events, a place for feedback from residents and even a “For Sale” section where you can advertise household items for sale.  Neighbors helping neighbors is alive and well in Forest Lake Village.  I learned recently that when a long-standing homeowner in Forest Lake Village passed away the homeowners association voted a unanimous “all in favor” to remember him by gifting a fruit basket to his surviving family expressing the entire neighborhood’s sympathy, warm condolences and well wishes.  Now that’s a community that rallies around its neighbors!

This welcoming neighborhood is the perfect place to retire or raise a family.  Right across the street from Forest Lake Village is Jack Mahon Park or “Spyglass Park” as it’s more commonly referred to.  Jack Mahon Park is a heavily wooded park that’s over 15 acres in size.  A huge shaded playground has a commercial grade set of play equipment including twisting and straight slides, climbing and hanging bars, tire swing along with toddler and children swings. A covered pavilion with fans and electricity can be used for parties or events at any time of the year. Residents may even reserve the pavilion for a private event at the Suntree Master Homeowner’s Association office which is also right on the park grounds.  There are also regulation basketball, bocce ball and horseshoe courts at the park.  Bocce ball and horseshoe equipment is even available to use for free from the Homeowner’s Association office.  And the regulation size soccer field is home to one of the local soccer leagues. Right next door to the park is Suntree's recreational vehicle storage area.  The vehicle storage area is available to residents at a nominal fee well below area market rates. The storage facility has space for a wide variety of vehicles including boats, motor homes, campers and trailers. Your RV or boat will be safely tucked away while you enjoy all the wonderful amenities of this beautiful park. 

Health And Education

Just a short drive from Forest Lake Village is Suntree Elementary School “where learning takes root and students shine”.  Suntree Elementary has an uplifting community atmosphere.  High academic standards and the building of student’s self esteem are top priorities.  Teachers and staff work hard to create an environment where children enjoy going to school and taking on new challenges.  Just west of Forest Lake Village you’ll find two other schools right across the street from each other.  Viera Charter School is a STEM based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum school for grades K-8. Viera High School, located across the street, has one of the largest dual-enrollment and advance-placement course loads in the country.
