Out on the East edge of Viera is the spectacular community of Herons’ Landing. With 295 home sites Herons’ Landing is a non-gated neighborhood made up of single family homes built by custom homebuilders such as Barber Construction, Gary Schull, Salgar Construction and Christopher Burton Homes. Standard lots in Herons’ Landing tend to be around 75' by 130' in size while many on cul-du-sacs are much larger. The neighborhood was developed from 1993 through 2006 and blends beautifully around 6 lakes and several acres of natural preserve land. Strolling through the community it often seems like no two houses are the same. Since Herons’ Landing was built out slowly over a 13 year period and by several different builders there is a wide variety of elevations and floor plans to choose from. Some homes built in 1993 are of frame construction while the majority of homes are of concrete block construction. About one third of the homes in Herons’ Landing have their own private in-ground pools while those that don’t have plenty of room to add one. Following the trail south and then west from the Herons’ Landing main entrance takes you to another fantastic park area. Suseda Park is a heavily wooded park with winding sidewalks for jogging, skating or biking. There is a playground for the kids with a covered patio, tables and restrooms. Open fields at the South end of the park are often used by local soccer teams or golfers getting in a little driving practice. The park is perfect for dog walking, jogging, skating or relaxing on the shaded park benches.
The Herons’ Landing homeowner’s association is very active, publishing a monthly newsletter and maintaining a website with helpful information about the community. There’s a buy and sell page, lost and found section and even a small classic car club.
