Near the heart of Viera East is the pristine community of Osprey. With 287 home sites Osprey is a non-gated neighborhood made up of single family homes built by well known homebuilders such as Lennar Homes, Burgoon Berger and Mercedes Homes. Osprey has two distinct sides. One side is made up of narrower lots around 50’ wide with the other side of the community having wider lots around 60’ wide. The neighborhood was developed from about 1995 through 2003 and curves beautifully around 2 large lakes, 5 smaller lakes and several acres of natural preserve land. In fact over 70% of the homes enjoy spectacular water views or the privacy and peacefulness of the natural preserves.
Strolling through the community what stands out is how well maintained the homes and yards are in Osprey. Most homes in Osprey have sprinkler systems on wells or reclaimed water and the lawns and landscaping are lush and nicely trimmed.
Homes in Osprey range in size from about 1,300 square feet to just under 2,400 square feet with 3 and 4 bedroom options. All homes in the community are of concrete block construction and with one or two exceptions all are single story homes with 2 car garages. Since there is a community pool only about 20% of the homes in Osprey have their own private in-ground pools. In many cases, those without pools have extended screened porches that really open up the outdoor space and make the homes great for relaxing or entertaining. The community has access to natural gas lines and reclaimed water for sprinklers.
Since the homes in Osprey were all built by top quality home builders you’ll find most homes have been nicely upgraded and include things like built-in wall niches, elegant archways, upgraded cabinets and solid surface counter tops. And with three different builders and two different lot sizes there’s a wide variety of exterior elevations to choose from.
The pristine nature of Osprey permeates throughout the neighborhood. On any given day you’ll find residents enjoying Osprey’s private community pool and cabana complete with lounge chairs, tables, and restrooms. You’ll see neighbors helping neighbors or walking their dogs throughout the side walk lined community.
Osprey is great for nature lovers! At two points along the north side of the community there are nature trails winding their way through the natural preserve and eventually connecting with a nearby community to the north. The trail is paved and provides great opportunities to see birds, turtles and other wildlife in their natural habitats. Following the sidewalks of the adjoining neighborhoods to the north takes you to Clubhouse Park complete with commercial quality play set, tennis courts, basketball courts and volleyball courts.
Following the sidewalks toward Osprey’s main entrance and then just a short walk south lands you at yet another fantastic park area. Suseda Park is a heavily wooded park with winding sidewalks for jogging, skating or biking. There is a playground for the kids with a covered patio, tables and restrooms. Open fields at the South end of the park are often used by local soccer teams or golfers getting in a little driving practice. The park is perfect for dog walking, jogging, skating or relaxing on the shaded park benches.
The Osprey homeowner’s association is very active, publishing a monthly newsletter and maintaining a website with helpful information about the community. There is a page with links to local utilities for setting up electric, water and gas service. There’s an “Updates” section informing residents of ongoing community improvements such as sidewalk pressure washing, tree trimming and common area sprinkler repairs. The Osprey community wide garage sales, complete with signage and advertising, are also announced on the website. There’s even an Osprey Facebook page as well.
Looking to get to know your neighbors better? In October Osprey holds its annual Oktoberfest Bar-B-Que at the community pool and cabana. Wear your costume, bring some food and meet your fellow Osprey neighbors!
